Dubai Summer Surprise (DSS) is an annual event that started in 1998, as an initiative to make Dubai an attractive holiday destinations for families.
DSS extends over 10 weeks and starts normally in the month of June and continues on to the month of July, August, and September. During DSS these events are divided into names and themes in relation to the given activity. The various surprises are organized by different government and in collaboration with shopping malls, hotels and different firms.
DSS has a mascot, named Modhesh that comes from the Arabic word Amazing, unbelievable and unexpected. During the DSS the area Modhesh Funcity is very popular, which is located at Dubai International Airport.
