Working Hours

The normal maximum hours of work per day in Dubai is 8 hours per day and 48 hours in a week, but this may differ from company to company. Establishments such as hotels and bar, nightclubs, restaurants and retail trade and other establishments as such, some business work on a 2 shift system if the work is dangerous and tiring such as construction work.

Commercial and professional firms work 40 to 45 hours a week and government ministries work 35 hours a week. The weekends are usually Thursday to Friday afternoon. But some have weekends on Fridays and Saturdays and on special occasions such as Ramadan Muslims are only allowed to work 2 hours a day.
Office hours in Dubai is usually 8:30 or 9:00 am till 5:30 or 6:00 pm. Friday is usual off day for Muslims as this is taken as a holy day in the week.

The annual leave is 22 days in a year and or 30 days in calendar days.
